In January 2026 I gave a short presentation to my local ham club DARC P14 Ulm about the history and development of the Arduino family.
I started with the original Arduino UNO variant, from which there has been quite some evolution over the years, with the latest addition of the UnoQ, which is quite remarkable.
As stated by founders and invenstors, the target intention of the Arduino platform was to create something that
- is cheap, convenient and flexible
- can be used for experimentation while avoiding solder connects
- can be programmed as simple as possible (no IDE and compiler hassles required)
Following there is a selection of slides from the presentation, with comments as image legends.
